1970 QA50 custom restoration by Mark West

Thanks for the help with parts some months back. My son (now 8) and I have enjoyed restoring (custom) our QA. The QA 50 K2 restoration is next, that's getting done as factory original.

This is an updated photo of my 1975 XR-75. I still have a lot of work to do. Sometimes I ask myself why all the effort. I'm 41 years old, I had one when I was a kid, it brings back fond memories. Thanks for the opportunity to show it off.

1977 XR75 Before & After pictures of his first restoration job

I recently restored as my first project. I decided to paint the frame black since it was not a 100% original restoration. Some of the parts aftermarket.
|
Owner Douglas Birnstill - Tivoli, NY

The black frame adds a nice contrast to the bike. It was fun, now my eyes are open for an early model CR 125 or 250 for my next project. re-mx had all the parts I needed to bring this baby together! Thanks a bunch!

Honda XR75 Owner John Bickel, TX - first restoration job, not bad!

Honda SL70 - Owner Brian Dawson - Alpena, MI USA

This project started out as 74 XL70. I completely disassembled the entire bike and went through the major components. I sent all of the body work and some cash to a gentleman in California for re-painting who ended up keeping everything! I was extremely disappointed, and I decided to piece together some old SL 70 bodywork from eBay. After visiting the local body shop and getting some tutorial, I purchased some professional equipment and urethane paint products. It came out pretty good for a first project. I had so much fun that I have a 73 and 74 XR75 spread out over the shop and will do the same with them this spring! Thanks for selling some hard to find parts. I'll be watching for those kill switches!
|
A nice job after his body work was taken by the paint shop!

1974 XR 75. It was as much fun as the SL70 I did a few years back. I had
them both out today around the yard and they ran great. I took some pics.
Without your parts, the restorations would have been impossible.

Owner - Kevin Flynn - Victoria, Australia
This bike was sold new in January 1977 and traded back to the same shop 6 weeks later, it then sat untouched for 28 years !!
It still has the original tyres, chain, sprockets etc.
It is in brand new condition and is totally original.

Assorted Honda XR75
Just had to show you a couple of pictures. I luv these bikes, can't get enough! The Franks racing (below) only 8 ever made. I think I have the only one that still exsists. An old schooler (right), 116cc motor has everything you can imagine including a digital ignition. Eats those bbr bikes alive!! The stock XR75 is NEW.

I recently started updating this bikes appearance and found many hard to find parts on your site. The new XL70 side covers & decals, tank wings and many of the small parts really make the bike look great. Thanks for all your help.

1974 Honda QA50 - Matching set! - Matthew Koops - Lakeland, FL
I had one of these as a kid and wanted to find them again. I found two and needed a few parts to get them running just right. I wasn't looking for mint restorations just something my wife and I can ride around on. Now we draw the most attention of anyone in the neighborhood with our matching set. Thanks for all your help.

1974 Honda MR50 - Original Owner! - Mike Hobbs - Dayton, NV
I've had this bike since I was a kid and I recently took it out to get it running for my kids. I moved to higher elevation since 1974 and I got a high altitude main jet and a bunch of maintenance parts from you about a month ago. You should see the smile on my kids' faces under those helmets! Today I received the CDI and I'm hoping that the bike will really get up and go. Thanks for all your help.

1970 Honda QA50 - $30 Garage Sale find! I picked this bike up as is for $30 at a garage sale. After a few hours of cleaning it up and checking everything I started it up. I can't believe when I look on the Internet what these things are going for! Thanks for having the missing pieces. Now if I can find a muffler it will be fantastic. My kid can't wait to get on and ride!

1974/1975 Honda MR50 - Rocket Bike! In December 1974 I purchased my first MR50 for my 6 year old son to ride. I thought, what a great bike, it has gears, a clutch, spoke wheels and everything just like a real dirt bike. He became an accomplished rider in about 6 months and wanted to race some of the other kids on their MR's and other mini bikes. The Real Need for Speed! The cylinder has been ported. What a difference! I won't disclose what the cylinder looked like on the inside but I will tell you it was not bored out. Suspension: lay down rear shocks and longer DG swing arm, I added Schrader valves to each fork tube cap and I went to 7/8" handle bars and made a capacity tank out of them. The results you see on the Rocket bike is the grouping of ideas from many people and is very fast for a 50 c.c. bike. Other mods include: 8 gauge spokes in the rear, 4130 chrome molly down tube supports, hand-formed fiberglass side plates, and a larger carburetor. When my 9 year old son retired from racing I sold the bike to another dad. The only problem was he never paid for the bike. In 1983, by chance, I ran into him. I put it back together and kept it in storage until 2003. It now has been completely rebuilt, upgraded and returned to its original 1976 orange color. This is the way it will stay and will remain in my family forever as I now have grand kids old enough to ride. Here's to the next 30 years!

1974/1975 Honda MR50 - Custom! I thought you might enjoy another one of my MR50s. Since it was a collection of parts I had accumulated over the years I chose not to paint it like an original MR50. The engine has a DG radial head and a DG expansion chamber. The cylinder has been modified similar to the Rocket bike above. The carburetor is not stock and allows the bike to guzzle gas and run smoothly at high revs. The front end is an XR75 and so are the handlebars. Maybe the next MR50 I build will be a stocker!
